Princess Cruises unveils a bespoke next-generation ship – Sun Princess®, the largest Princess ship ever built with the brand’s first-ever geodesic dome and the brand’s first new LNG-powered green ship.
Currently under construction at Fincantieri shipyard and scheduled to debut in early 2024, the 175,500 tonne vessel is the largest Princess ship ever built and embraces Italian heritage by featuring the brand’s iconic Piazza and Dome, a state-of-the-art entertainment space vessel inspired by the terraces of Santorini. Sun Princess will also feature the exclusive Princess Medallion which will extend Princess’ leadership position in delivering exceptional personalized experiences on an unparalleled scale. Princess is unique in its ability to provide incredible cruise amenities typical of the world’s largest ships while providing the personalized service found on the smallest ships in the industry.

The cruise line also announced that Sun Princess will operate an initial spring/summer season of Mediterranean cruises followed by Western cruises and Eastern Caribbean trips from Port Everglades, Florida in the fall of 2024.
Innovative Guest Experience
Infused with light, the ship connects guests with dynamic views of the world and innovative experiences, from service to food to entertainment. The lines Piazza, spans three floors, forming an iconic architectural feature offering guests an outward-facing suspended space with comfortable seating and areas to take in ocean views in all directions. An impressive LED screen is also featured in the center of the Piazza which can be moved and configured to broadcast live entertainment programs. Next to the Piazza Atrium will be a new café, Coffee Currents, the Bellini cocktail bar, as well as Princess favorites like Crooners Bar and Pizzeria Alfredo.
The other notable structure aboard the Sun Princess is The dome. Inspired by the terraces of Santorini, it is a multi-level covered deck and a truly unique glass dome ever built on a cruise ship. During the day, the Dome has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool and a unique water feature, in a comfortable and relaxed space. At night, the pool becomes a stage and the Dome completely transforms into an entertainment venue with a South Beach vibe, state-of-the-art lighting effects and the ability to deliver stunning aerial performances.
The overall interior design of the ship embraces the outdoors and celebrates the romance of the sea, offering exterior views from morning to night. With brighter, lighter decor and finishes, the Sun Princess offers more memorable vantage points from which to enjoy the stunning destinations and ocean vistas guests desire on a Princess cruise vacation.
Newly appointed suites and cabins
With 2,157 cabins in total, including 50 suites and 100 connecting rooms, the 21-deck Sun Princess has more outdoor balcony space and all balcony accommodations have a sofa in the bedroom.
A new level of en-suite accommodation will also be launched exclusively on Sun Princess, the Exclusive collection. In addition to premium cabin amenities, Signature Collection suites include access to the signature restaurant, Signature Loungeand Signature Solariuma private area of the Sanctuary.
With Sun Princess, Club Class accommodations on board this ship, and all Princess ships will now be referred to as Reserve collection, which are the best located mini suite cabins. Within the Reserve Collection, there will be Reserve Collection Cabana rooms, resort-style cabins that offer a balcony, and a private Cabana, an extra-large outdoor seating area. These premium accommodations also include access to Reserve Collection Restaurant.
In addition to the stunning design of the vessel, the durable elements are designed into the vessel. The Sun Princess is part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruising goal and is one of 11 new ships in the company’s fleet powered by LNG fuel technology.
Sun Princess’ inaugural season begins in early 2024 with Mediterranean routes. The first three voyages of the ship are now on sale.
It is the third ship to be honored with the name Sun Princess, adding to the legacy of the first ship sailing from 1974 to 1988 and the second ship sailing from 1995 to 2020. At that time it had the largest number of staterooms with balconies, and the cruise line’s first 24-hour cafe.
