Princess Road deaths: Police issue update after man and woman found dead in nearby Manchester flats
Police have issued an update after a man and woman were found dead in nearby flats in Manchester on Saturday April 23.
In a statement released in the early hours of Sunday morning, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reassured the public after the deaths in the Princess Road area of the city. GMP also said it “can rule out the direct physical involvement of a third party” in the incident.
Superintendent Mark Kenny said: “The deaths may not be linked, but at this stage the precise cause of death cannot be established. However, we can rule out direct physical involvement by third parties.
“I would like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk at this time. Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances to determine the cause of death and will remain at the scene while the investigation is ongoing.”
A GMP spokesperson previously said: “We were contacted by NWAS at around 4.20pm today (April 23, 2022) regarding a woman who died at an address in Princess Road, Manchester.
“Officers attended the address and were contacted at 7:10 p.m. regarding a welfare issue at a nearby apartment. NWAS attended the address first and unfortunately found a deceased male at the inside.
“An investigation is ongoing into both deaths and there is a scene in place. GMFRS attended a gas leak test and nearby stores were evacuated as a precaution to ensure public safety. At this stage, there is no risk to the wider community and the investigation is still in its early stages.”
A neighbor spoke of his horror after finding the woman dead. The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said the woman was in her 60s and was going to get her food “every day”.
The neighbor said she was traumatized after discovering the body when she entered the flat around 3.15pm. “I ran out of the apartment as fast as I could,” she said.
