Seven new builds set to arrive in the United States

Seven new cruise ships are expected to debut in the US market by the end of 2022.

While some of the new builds are leaving the shipyard and heading straight for North America, other ships have entered service in Europe first before arriving in the United States for the winter season.

Carnival Celebration
Cruise line: Carnival Cruise Line
Delivery date: October 2022
Ability: 5,200 guests
Tonnage: 183,000
Arrival in the United States: November 20
US homeport: Miami

After a transatlantic crossing, the new Carnival Celebration launches service to the Caribbean in November. Joining Mardi Gras, the Excel-class ship will become Carnival’s second LNG-powered ship while offering week-long cruises from PortMiami year-round.

US homeports: New York, Miami, Galveston and Port Canaveral

After making her recent debut in Iceland, Norwegian Prima arrives in New York on October 5. The first in a new series of ships known as the Prima-Class, the 3,125-guest ship will make a “maiden tour” during the winter season, offering itineraries from four different U.S. homeports.

Celebrity Beyond
Cruise line: Celebrity Cruises
Delivery date: April 2022
Ability: 3,260 guests
Tonnage: 140,600
Arrival in the United States: October 24
US homeport: New York and Fort Lauderdale

The Celebrity Beyond is set to debut in North America this winter. After entering service in Europe in April, the third Edge-class ship will arrive in New York on October 24, ahead of a season of Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades.

Sibling of MSC Seashore built in 2021, MSC Seascape is making its North American debut with a series of cruises departing from Miami. MSC Cruises’ newest ship heads for the United States shortly after leaving the shipyard and arrives in New York – where it will be christened – on December 5.

Arrival in the United States: December 22
US homeport: Fort Lauderdale

The newest Viking ship is heading to the United States in December. After making its Mediterranean debut in November, the Viking Neptune will cross the Atlantic en route to Fort Lauderdale. The luxury ship is then set to launch a 137-night world cruise – which will also visit Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and two ports in Hawaii.

A second Virgin Voyages ship arrives in Miami for the winter season. After being delivered in 2021 – and officially entering service earlier this year in Europe – the Valiant Lady will offer a series of week-long Caribbean cruises from October 30.

The new Silver Dawn makes its North American debut in December. After launching service earlier this year in Europe, the 2021-built vessel will be based in Fort Lauderdale for most of the winter, offering a series of Caribbean itineraries.
