This afternoon tea near Toronto lets you sip in a garden oasis by a 200-foot fountain

You can spend the day like royalty in this majestic tea house, which seems to belong in Europe. You don’t need a plane ticket to visit this place as it is located less than an hour from Toronto to Oshawa.

Parkwood National Historic Site is home to a stately mansion with grounds that will whisk you away to England. Nestled in the middle of the gardens, you will discover the Maison de Thé, recently reopened for the summer season.

The venue has three sides open to the outside and sits in front of a 200-foot fountain, allowing you to enjoy incredible views while you dine.

The afternoon tea menu consists of savory sandwiches like cucumber goat cheese and smoked salmon pinwheels, as well as scones, berries and cream.

The experience isn’t complete without a little sweetness, and you can enjoy treats like lavender eclairs and honey almond and apricot pies. You can even wash down your afternoon tea by adding a glass of sparkling wine.

The venue also serves lunch and light snacks and is supported by a local business called Berry Hill Food Company.

As you dine, you’ll be treated to views of the century-old property. The grounds are home to formal gardens, including a new garden on the north side of the fountain this year.

After your tea is over, you’ll want to explore the area and take photos by the pool and in the dreamy Italian garden hidden between the main house and the greenhouses.

The area is so scenic that it has been featured in several films and shows, including X-Men, Umbrealla Academy, Nightmare Alley, Hemlock Grove and Anne with an E.

If you are looking for a magical summer experience, reserve a place for afternoon tea in this beautiful garden.
